A two-day workshop led by Jani Hoberg. Silk aquatint is a type of collagraph using silk fabric, plexiglass and acrylic paint to create the plate, which print rich blacks. This class is suitable for participants who have some printmaking or painting experience.
The silk is adhered to a piece of plexiglass with black acrylic paint. White paint mixed with mat medium is added to fill the pockets of the weave of the silk creating tones. The plates are printed like an intaglio plate using water base inks. The resulting print has the richness of a mezzotint, with a painterly quality.
Class limited to six participants. Participants should bring a sketchbook and writing tool. $150 Fee includes Studio time, tuition and materials. Classes run 10am - 3pm, including a 1 hour lunch break.
Class can be booked on the gallery's website at www.imprintgallery.com
