Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Live! and Hometown Tourism DaySaturday, September 26, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The Cannon Beach History Center & Museum will be opening its doors free of charge this Saturday, September 26, 2015, as part of Smithsonian magazine's tenth annual Museum Day Live! and Hometown Tourism Day. A nationwide event, Museum Day Live! offers free admission to visitors presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket at a participating museum or cultural institution.
Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian's commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone, giving museums across all 50 states the opportunity to emulate the admission policy of the Smithsonian museum in Washington D.C. Last year's event drew over 400,000 participants, and this year's event expects record-high participation.
"While the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum is as far away from Washington D.C. as you can get, we love the idea of a day dedicated to museums, says Executive Director, Elaine Murdy-Trucke.
Though the museum is small, it has big ambitions. In 2011, they were one of the smallest museum's to host the Smithsonian Museum's traveling exhibit, Earth from Space.
The Museum Day Live! tickets are available to download and can be downloaded here. Tickets can also be presented from your smartphone. Visitors who present the Museum Day Live! ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues for one day only. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address. The Museum will be offering complimentary Sleepy Monk coffee and tasty treats.
