The 2016 Cannon Beach Cottage & Garden Tour weekend starts off with a Friday night reception and concert featuring Kelsey Mousley and the Next Right Thing. Mousley has been performing her soulful music for over a decade and has been compared to a young Diana Krall. Refreshments will be served during this event.

Carry on the festivities with a luncheon lecture by architecture expert Libby Holah on Saturday. Holah’s lecture will focus on vintage and traditional design, with emphasis on the reawakening of these styles. Holah received her masters in architecture from Washington University and has had designs featured in numerous publications including 1859, Oregon Home Magazine and The Oregonian.

The tour of homes will take place on Saturday afternoon and will concentrate on the Tolovana Park area of Cannon Beach. Among the stops on the tour will be the former summer cottage of acclaimed 1900s Oregon Coast photographer Frank Woodfield and his wife, Irta, a talented poet. Several of their works will be on display during the tour. Follow up the tour of homes with local libations and a Saturday evening concert by Maggie & the Cats at the Cannon Beach History Center.

Wrap up the weekend with an English-style garden tea on Sunday morning. Guest speaker and naturalist Sherian Wright’s presentation will focus on beekeeping for the backyard gardener. Her experience includes workshops and presentations throughout Oregon and Washington including master gardeners’ groups and The Oregon Garden. She is also the author of “Mason Bees for the Backyard Gardener.” Coffee, tea and light bites will be served.

The Cottage and Garden Tour functions as the main fundraiser for the History Center and allows them to continue to operate as a donation-based museum, as well as enabling them to offer free lecture series, a field trip program and a seasonal acoustic series. Tickets can be purchased individually or as a weekend package and are available at the Cannon Beach History Center website. For more information, visit the website or call 503.436.9301.
