Pooka Rice

Artist, activist, Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP) Outreach Coordinator, Rice works in a variety of media mixing her passion for the environment with art as a story-telling device. By applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies, Rice tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way, likes to involve the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and believes in the idea of function following form in a work. Her artworks establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. Rice currently lives and creates in Astoria and works in City of Cannon Beach- Haystack Rock Awareness Program.
