Dog Show on the Beach

There is no doubt Cannon Beach is the top doggy destination in the Northwest, and October’s Dog Show on the Beach is the perfect time to let your dog strut their stuff, have some fun, and make new friends. Frequently named among the most dog-friendly travel destinations, Cannon Beach’s love for pups extends to making it an excellent place for dogs to visit and taking care of less fortunate local dogs. This annual just-for-fun dog show does its part by benefitting Clatsop Animal Assistance and the local animal shelter.

The annual Dog Show on the Beach competition is all friendly. Awards are given in categories ranging from the talent-centric ‘doggy dash’ and ‘best trick’ to the slightly more entertaining ‘best costume’ and ‘owner lookalike.’ The 2019 event is scheduled for October 19 and will happen rain or shine. Registration begins at 10 am at the Surfsand Resort, with events happening 12-4 pm on the beach nearby. If the weather is questionable, an alternate indoor venue will be utilized. Registration is $10 per dog, and there will also be the opportunity to enjoy a mid-day hot dog roast and participate in a raffle, with all proceeds going to the local animal shelter.
