Savor Cannon Beach
With a focus on Northwest wines and regional cuisine, the Savor Cannon Beach Wine & Culinary Festival offers a four-day lineup of wine, culinary and arts events March 7-10, 2019. A series of festival events focus on specific themes that showcase the bounty of Northwest wine and cuisine while the town’s restaurants, galleries and shops feature a weekend full of tastings, special dinners and arts events.
Festival wine tasting events offer the opportunity to taste award-winning or notable wines from the Pacific Northwest and learn more about Northwest wine regions and varietals. Most of the wine tasting events are intimate and are limited to less than 150 participants, though the largest event of the festival, the Saturday wine walk, accommodates several hundred wine tasters who can visit approximately 40 Northwest wineries pouring tastings at Cannon Beach art galleries, restaurants and retail shops, all within easy walking distance in this compact beach community. Participating wineries represent many of the wine growing regions in Oregon and Washington.
The festival kicks off with a Thursday Night Throwdown featuring some of the best current vintage wines from the Northwest and event participants vote for their favorite of the evening. A Friday night Gallery Tour shines the spotlight on Cannon Beach’s art galleries, each hosting a winery, offering an evening of art, wine and light appetizers. Other events include a tasting of Gold Medal winning wines combined with the Battle of the Bites. Featured wines are all Gold Medal winners from the SavorNW Wine Awards competition held in Cannon Beach the last week of February (not a public event); and bites are prepared by regional chefs and restaurants with event participants determining the winner of the Battle of the Bites.
Individual tickets to festival events and full Festival Passes are available. Advance purchase is recommended, as events are limited in size and have sold out in past years. For more information and tickets, visit www.savorcannonbeach.com, follow the festival on Facebook or call (503) 717-1122.
