Job Description – Information Specialist
The Information Specialist is a high-profile position that demands a professional, energetic, efficient, and friendly personality. This staff member is primarily responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Center. In addition, the Specialist works with and is accountable to the Cannon Beach Chamber Office Manager and Executive Director. Employees at the Visitor Center have a set schedule and are expected to work weekends and during Chamber events as needed. This position is required to work weekends and is an hourly position that includes benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet, assist, and direct visitors to Cannon Beach businesses in a friendly manner.
Answer phone and e-mail inquiries.
Assist with outgoing mail.
Maintain and update daily records and reports.
Handle and receive daily sales transactions.
Daily cleaning, including sweeping floors, cleaning windows, and wiping down counters.
Stocking Information Center with appropriate visitor guides, brochures, merchandise, and other materials.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the Cannon Beach area is required.
Successful candidates must have previous experience in working with the public.
High School diploma required. Some college and/or degree are a plus.
Knowledge of office systems, including phone and copy machines.
Computer software skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
Experience in customer service and hospitality is preferred.
Candidate must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, holidays, and as needed for Chamber-related events.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds preferred but not required.
Residency in Cannon Beach is preferred but not required.
Compensation: This position is a full-time position that includes a benefits package with some Holidays, and Medical, Dental, and Life Insurance Coverage. Pay range will depend on experience and will range from $15-$18 per hour.
