Plan Your Trip

Cannon Beach is easy to visit, located within easy driving distance from Portland or Seattle. Here is some information to help with your planning:

Where is Cannon Beach?

Cannon Beach is just 90 minutes west of Portland and four hours southwest of Seattle. The town is four miles south of the US-26 junction along Pacific Coast Highway. (US-101) For more information, see our ‘Getting Here’ page.

What is the weather like? What should I pack?

The North Oregon Coast is dominated by a cool marine climate most of the year. Summertime highs average in the upper 60s, and wintertime lows drop into the high 30s but rarely to freezing. Our rainiest months are November to January, with an average of up to 10 inches per month, although the rains most often present as a drizzle. Casual walking shoes that adapt to the beach, trail, or town are good. It is always advisable to dress in layers as the weather can occasionally be unpredictable. Savvy Oregon Coast travelers are always ready for unseasonably warm, cool, or wet conditions.

What kinds of restaurants are available? Should I make reservations?

In Cannon Beach, you’ll find everything from fine dining with wine pairings to relaxed, family restaurants where you’ll feel comfortable bringing the kids and a few spots with dog-friendly patios. Your best bet is to call for a reservation whenever possible, as our little town gets bustling during the summer and the quiet seasons, and some restaurants have limited hours.

What are my lodging options? Should I make reservations?

Cannon Beach has various lodging options, including award-winning resorts, cozy boutique hotels, vacation rentals of every size, and campgrounds suitable for RVs and tents. Many offer oceanfront or ocean-view rooms, and you’ll find amenities ranging from fitness centers and spas to wine tastings, warm cookies, and doggie welcome baskets. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during holidays, summer, and popular event weekends. To preview our lodging options, visit our  Places to Stay page.

Is public transportation available?
