State Parks COVID-19 Update: Earlier today, March 19th, 2020 Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) Director Lisa Sumption announced the suspension of camping operations Department-wide to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Reservations for all state park stays from April 3 through May 8 are cancelled and site fees will be refunded. Before we reach that May 8 date, the Department will review this state park campground closure to decide whether it should be extended. The decision affects all individual and group overnight facilities: campsites, yurts, cabins, tepees, and services operated by concessionaires. The suspended service also affects reservations for group day-use areas.

Today’s press release said OPRD will accommodate current overnight guests through April 2 and that has not changed. Effective today at Nehalem Bay State Park (and many other OPRD campgrounds throughout the state) non-reservation, or drop-in camping is suspended. What this means: if you have a reservation or are currently registered in the Nehalem Bay campground, your stay will be honored through April 2. No new reservations or registrations will take place until May 8 or later.

The details of these actions—such as dates and affected programs—are under constant review and will change as new information develops. Please check our website for updates and information.
