Sandcastle Artwork & Poster
Meet the Artist
This year's Sandcastle Contest artwork and poster was crafted by local artist Greg Scott.
About Greg Scott
Born in Hawaii and raised on Rockaway Beach Bainbridge Island, WA, Greg Scott has been influenced by the stunning views of the Seattle skyline, Mount Rainier, and the rich marine life of the Pacific Northwest. From pinstriping cars at just twelve years old to painting public murals in his teenage years, Scott's artistic journey has been marked by early and diverse expressions of his talent.
Greg's work is celebrated for its focus on nature, storytelling, and the use of impactful, vivid color palettes. He is currently working on two major collections: a monochromatic study of the natural world and the Kindred Collection, which depicts animal families in dynamic landscapes. This latter collection reflects his Pacific Islander heritage's belief in the interconnectedness of all creatures—a theme that resonates deeply with Greg, given his personal history.
"I have always felt 'ohana in nature and my community," says Greg, reflecting on his connection to his surroundings and the people of Cannon Beach.
The Artwork
The 61st annual Sandcastle Contest details will be added to the banner for the posterized version of the artwork. The artist is reserving the original painting banner at the top of the artwork to incorporate customized details for the buyer. Scott's original sandcastle contest artwork can be found at House of Orange.
The 2025 posters will be for sale closer to the contest date. Check back here for updates. The limited-edition posters are 18 x 24 and signed and numbered by the artist. The open-edition posters are 12 x 18 and feature an artist bio and event history on the backside.
