✨ 39-year arts tradition
Each year, the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce honors one artist whose work captures the spirit, creativity, and natural beauty of our community. The 2027 Artist of the Year will create original artwork for two of Cannon Beach’s signature events—the 62nd annual Sandcastle Contest and the 39th annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival—while also having the opportunity to be featured in the 2027 Cannon Beach Visitor’s Guide. This program provides regional artists with a platform for wide exposure, lasting recognition, and the chance to contribute to the artistic identity of Cannon Beach.
- Original Artwork: Submissions must be original pieces with Haystack Rock included in the piece(s)
- Submissions: Include two prototypes, which may be sketches or examples of previous work, to show the style of the work they will produce for the posters. Ideas or examples of the 2027 posters are encouraged.
- Letter of Interest: Include a Letter of Interest, no longer than one page, expressing your interest in being the 2027 Artist of the Year and your connection to Cannon Beach.
- Event Posters: The selected artist will create posters for the 63rd annual Sandcastle Contest and the 40th annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival in 2027.
- Exposure and Recognition: This is a prime opportunity for artists to showcase their talent at some of Cannon Beach's iconic annual events.
- Rights and Reservations: The Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to reproduce the image for the event purposes.
- Use of generative AI is strictly prohibited and will not be considered.
- Compensation: Compensation for the Artist of the Year will begin at $1000.
Art Submissions for the 2027 Cannon Beach Visitor’s Guide Cover and Showcase Pages
Submitted artwork will be considered for showcase pages with premiere placements in the middle of the guide. To be considered for the cover submissions must include Haystack Rock. The artwork chosen for the cover will receive compensation, and all other artwork selected will be published in the Visitor’ Guide at no cost to the artist.
The selection process will be “blind,” meaning the artists' names will not be presented with their work at the time of the selection. The Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee will complete this process.
All artwork submissions must be high-resolution digital files or professionally captured images of the artwork. Artwork of all mediums will be considered. Preference will be given to local artists or regional artists represented in the local galleries.
All submissions for Guide Cover and Showcase pages and Artist of the Year must be received by the Events Committee no later than 5 pm on Tuesday, October 1st, 2026.
Submissions can be emailed to Art@CannonBeach.org or submitted in person at the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce and Information Center at 207 N Spruce Street.
