Give the Gift of a Cannon Beach Experience this Holiday Season
If you’re looking for a holiday present for someone special that will keep you on their “nice” list, consider the can’t-miss combination of hotel reservations in Cannon Beach and tickets to one of our fantastic festival experiences. With several events happening throughout the year, you’re sure to find just the one to make your favorite person’s next (or first!) trip to Cannon Beach the best yet.
Here are some ideas:
For the Foodie
Spring is a great time to take the foodie in your life to enjoy food, wine, and fun in Cannon Beach. Each March, Savor Cannon Beach offers a series of wine and culinary experiences over four days, including the opportunity to taste award-winning wines from recent wine competitions paired with chef-designed appetizers. The Saturday Wine Walk is the most popular event of the festival. It features over 40 Northwest wineries pouring tastings at local galleries, restaurants, and shops, all within easy walking distance in our compact beach community. The North Coast Culinary Fest in May celebrates the life of America’s first foodie with culinary events honoring the late James Beard. Festival events include dinners at local restaurants, culinary classes at local businesses, and a celebration dinner served by well-known regional chefs.
For the Art Lover
Art is a way of life in Cannon Beach, and your favorite creative can experience it first-hand at several art festivals throughout the year. Artists reveal new work at gallery events throughout town each May during Spring Unveiling Arts Festival. Later in the year, September’s Earth & Ocean Arts Festival celebrates the connection between the arts and ecology with demonstrations, performances, and talks, with proceeds benefitting local environmental non-profits. The local art community closes its festival season with Stormy Weather Arts Festival in November. For over 30 years, this popular festival has been a part of the fabric of our community and features artist demonstrations, concerts, and live music throughout the town.
For the Outdoor & Nature Enthusiast
Cannon Beach has a couple of fantastic events to satisfy their love of nature for the person on your list who is passionate about the great outdoors. Oregon State Parks host Whale Watch Weeks twice annually during the March and December peak migrations, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about Gray Whales (including how to spot them!) from trained volunteers at Ecola State Park. And for those whose passion is stewardship, the SOLVE Beach Clean Ups in April and September are a fantastic way for them to enjoy our beautiful beaches and simultaneously show some love for them.
For Something Different
June’s Sandcastle Contest offers the chance to watch teams of professional sand sculpture artists, amateur groups, and families construct remarkable sand creations, including castles, dragons, and mermaids. Truly creative (or competitive!) visitors can join the fun by competing with their own team. The literary enthusiast in your life won’t want to miss Get Lit at the Beach in April, where they can spend time rubbing elbows with best-selling and award-winning writers during a weekend of presentations and book signings. Architecture and history buffs will love the Cannon Beach History Center and Museum’s annual Cottage Tour in September. This event showcases the town’s vintage cottages, beautiful gardens, dream homes, and a weekend-long series of events, including musical performances, wine tasting, a luncheon lecture, and English-style garden tea. And those who prefer to experience nature from a bike seat will love the Fat Bike Festival in spring, where they can participate in planned rides and activities, including a scavenger hunt with other fat bike enthusiasts.
