The Tall Woods Garden Cabin is a rustic and historic lodging nestled in the forest in the Tolovana area of Cannon Beach. Oregon. The cabin is part of the Tall Woods Garden, a three-acre nursery and event center, within a twelve-acre mature Sitka Spruce and Hemlock Forest and adjacent to thousands of acres of forest. including the 1,000-acre Cannon Beach Forest Reserve and near the 3,500-acre Rainforest Reserve.
The cabin is a one-room structure with an attached bath. It was constructed as an artist's studio in 1990, using recycled wood and 100-year-old windows from a schoolhouse in Astoria. It has a modern bathroom and kitchenette, electric heat, and a wood burning stove. It can accommodate up to four people and guests have access to the gardens and walking paths.
The cabin is a five-minute walk from the beach at Tolovana State Wayside, along with other amenities including a fine grocery store, two restaurants, and a bakery/coffee shop. The cabin also affords access into the adjacent forest lands for hiking or bicycling, and mushroom hunting.
The cabin is ideal for a couple with one or two children. Dogs are not permitted as two aging Corgis patrol the grounds. The cabin is accessible to most people with disabilities, although the bathroom is not wheelchair accessible.
The cabin is not for everyone. It is rustic and weathered, with distressed wood floors and exposed wood beams. An occasional spider can make its way into the cabin from the garden although it is cleaned frequently. The garden is filled with birdlife and seasonal color. It seems remote and isolated, but it is within a fenced and gated enclosure and a short distance from the Owners' residence. It is very quiet.
