Coaster Theatre Playhouse

Details

The Coaster Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the cultural, artistic, and civic vitality of Cannon Beach by continuing the tradition of producing quality community theatre and memorable experiences for residents and visitors of all ages. From its early beginnings as the Coaster Roller Rink in the 1920s, this historic site operated as a skating rink through the 1950s. In 1972, the building was purchased by Maurie Clark, a Portland patron of the arts, and the Coaster Theatre Playhouse was founded. Under his direction, a major remodel was undertaken, resulting in the building theatre patrons see today. Upon Maurie’s death in 2001, Coaster Theatre Playhouse became a non-profit organization and continues the tradition of creating and sharing beautiful plays, musicals, and special performances by talented artists and musicians.
